Ouch! I reached a new record

I have never wighted so much in my entire life.
It makes me wanna cry.
But crying won't help, instead I should go on a diet. A serious diet.
The problem is that I live alone and have no time / willing to cook healthy food and take away food is either junkie, fat, unhealthy,...

It's not like it was in NY* where if you wanted a snack you could just walk into a supermarket/Starbuck's and buy fresh fruit salad, or a bento sushi, or just drink something with a flavour. In Italy there aren't such things. There is no fresh fruit already peeled, there is no bento sushi in the supermarket, flavoured water is not widely spread. In Pavia there is a single sushi place and each piece of sushi costs more than €1, around $1.50. For dinner I took 12 pieces and I paid €15!!! I cannot really spend all that money for dinner every day. I hope that when exams are over I'll have more time to cook vegetables and eat fresh fruit (now I eat mainly canned one). Going to school is SO unhealthy!!!

*You might think this is an errand post where I celebrate American food.

  1. Eeek! O.O

I know how you feel, Paola. I've managed to lose the weight I've lost so far by avoiding processed foods and eating whole foods instead... fruits, vegetables, lean meats, low-fat or non-fat dairy products, and whole grain breads and cereals.

I recently let that slide, but am getting back on the wagon, and have started exercising too, as I used to do.

  2. I feel your pain, Pola. I find that eating healthier in Italy is much easier provided you have the time to prepare everything...but as far as snacks go? Very difficult to find healthy, quick, and cheap here. My staple right now is a banana, or, if I have time to sit down, whole-grain cereal, low-fat milk, and sliced up banana together...add some Dietor if you need it. Quick, filling, and healthy! I also add whole grain cereal to yogurt to make it more filling, because if I just eat a yogurt, I'm hungry after a half hour :( Being a student was horrible for my weight as well. In bocca al lupo!

  3. First of all: yes, in bocca al Lupo baby! ;)
Second: cut up with alchool. You'll see results in nearly two weeks, I'm not joking.
Third: if you aren't able to cook healthy food cause of lack of time, well there's only one thing you could do... RUN run run!

  4. You are talking to a middle aged over weight woman here. My goal is to loose at least 50 pounds my fall.

I just joined a health spa and plan to work out twice a week. When I eat my fruits and veggies and cut out carbs I do much better.

This big old 1/2 Italian woman will try to loose the weight.

    Take care,
    Terri
